I have been wanting to try some Astrophotography (the photography of stars and other celestial objects) for awhile now but had been thwarted by the 100% cloud cover. Thankfully, last night the skies cleared for a short while. Unfortunately, it was freezing cold and I'd had to wait until 3am for the sky to clear.

But, suffering for one's art is considered standard in this business so I bundled up and went out. I was too excited to try it to have stayed in anyway

It's not easy doing it in a city full of light pollution, especially with my apartment near so many street lamps. They're great when you want to feel safe walking around at night... not so great when I want to take pictures with 2 minute exposure times

Overall, I had fun and got some neato pictures of stars and the moon. I'll be heading out to my parent's place some time this week to try and get some better shots. They live out in the country so that should go a LOT better.
